"Scientific evening to launch the National Breast Cancer Screening and Diagnosis Guidelines"

The Jordan Breast Cancer Program conducted a scientific evening entitled "Breast cancer Screening and diagnosis guidelines, towards enabling multidisciplinary collaboration "to launch the breast cancer screening and diagnosis guidelines 3rd edition. It targeted frontline healthcare providers from different specialties; family medicine, radiology, obsgyn, pathology and surgery and included a panel discussion that discussed the updates, challenges, and future recommendations.

"The accomplishment of the Blended Learning and Behavior Change for Local Development project scoping phase in Al Balqa’ and Al Tafilah governorates"

For the third consecutive year, and as part of the European Union (EU) support project for civil society organizations, The Jordan Breast Cancer Program completes the first step of Blended Learning and Behavior Change for Local Development project in al Balqa’ and al Tafilah governorates, whereby, a number of Civil Society Organizations and Community Based Organizations were recruited and many interviews were performed, resulting in choosing a team of trainers to attend the TOT workshop. This phase enabled JBCP to identify current behaviors, challenges and opportunities and train supporters in terms of early detection, gender equality and economic empowerment.

"Call Counseling Training and Online Educational Sessions"
|
Mobilizing communities toward breast cancer early detection continued during 2020 while adapting our
approach to accommodate the new context forced by COVID-19 pandemic. JBCP's "Home Visits" and
"Educational Lectures" projects were digitalized and transformed to call-counseling and online sessions.
Several training courses were conducted to build capacity of community health workers and health
educators, enabling them to adopt the new approach and to adopt digitalized outreach processes.

"10 refreshment training workshops were conducted to the Jordan Breast Cancer Program's Educators"

The Jordan Breast Cancer Program conducted 10 refreshment training workshops between January and February 2020, which mainly aimed to develop the competencies of JBCP community team by providing updated educational content around breast cancer and cancer prevention.

The training focused on enhancing outreach efforts through integrated toolkit, utilized in an upgraded field plan collaborating with new partners to maximize our community reach and impact.

WEBINAR SESSIONS LAUNCHED BY JBCP
|
48 online webinars and live discussions were conducted with different experts and specialists in the fields of health and early detection, targeting all of the society. Each session lasted for an hour and we discussed different topics related to breast cancer, primary healthcare and preventive medicine, social and cultural barriers to health, and others. We witnessed a good interaction and engagement rates from the public, so that the questions were opened for all the participants or followers on the social media platforms.

|
Within the series of scientific sessions and training carried out by JBCP, Michael J. Ulissey, MD, FACR, is a Breast Radiologist at the Centers for Diagnostic Imaging, near Seattle, presented lecture titled "The Role of the Radiologist in Breast Imaging." The lecture will discuss the traditional role of the radiologist with regard to a patient's breast care, and then show how and why the current model of breast care is and should change. The lecture was attended by 25 radiologists from different countries of the MENA.

"When is Breast MRI a Clinical Useful Tool? Webinar"

To continue the efforts in building the capacities of the healthcare providers in the breast imaging field, JBCP has conducted a webinar about breast MRI entitled "When is Breast MRI a Clinical Useful Tool?", the main speaker was Prof.Pamela M. Otto who is a professor and a Chair department of radiology at UT Health San Antonio.The aim of the webinar was to familiarize the radiologists and radiographers with the implications of breast MRI and how it is useful in each case.

"2020 Consultancy Meeting for the Arab Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign" during October
|

Increasing number of entities are adopting digital solutions during this current global pandemic. The Jordan breast Cancer Program took immediate steps forward to ensure continuety of activities and conducted this year consultancy meeting online to discuss the fifth Arab October campaign.
The consultancy workshop was held with the participation of 9 countries (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Iraq, Palestine, Libya, Morocco, Sudan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan) to evaluate the impact of the previous Arab campaign 2019 and to present ways of cooperation in the new Arab 2020 October campaign, so that many of approaches and new directions were discussed.

"HRH Princess Ghida Talal Launches the 2020 Arab Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign"
|

|
HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC), launched the fifth Arab Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign under the slogan: "Behind every number is a life." The campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of the early detection of breast cancer. Princess Ghida delivered her message through social media, saying: "I ask every woman to make her health a priority, because cancer statistics are not just numbers - behind every number is a life." Through this regional awareness campaign, JBCP, in cooperation with entities across the Arab world, unites the efforts of participating countries to reach their goal of saving the lives of women in the Arab world by encouraging them to pursue breast cancer screening immediately.
